Cookies and legitimate interest

I see many cookie banners now referring to legitimate interest for the use of cookies, and I have to object to purposes them one by one, and sometimes to individual third parties processing also. Is this legal? I thought you needed consent??

      LI does not require consent and it is the industries way of circumventing the current cookie regulations that require consent.

      Most that do this have an object to all button but is is important to realise, which most people don’t, that you need to hit two buttons not one!

      At present there is nothing you can do about it save use a different website. The worst are the media companies and the likes of Formula 1.

      You need to have a look at the Transparency and Consent Framework from the IAB for a thorough explanation on this:

      However, this doesn’t excuse/explain the poor choices made by some brands with regards to cookie consent tools. One company I was asked to do some work for had one that required 47 different actions every time you wanted to enter their site – I pointed out that this wasn’t very user friendly (particularly if using the site on your phone). I didn’t get the work…
