I receive numerous calls to sit through demo’s of systems which look after your compliance. Obviously you have the big players such as One Trust but there seems to be more and more entering the market.
Is anyone of them best or are each of them best in their own area, I’m at a loss now to know who to recommend to clients.
Whats the view – shall I ask Which to review them?

We use DP Organizer extensively across our client base, not least because the customer service is excellent.
Tash Whittaker is someone with real knowledge in this area – so hopefully she will answer.
With regards to OneTrust and Nymity which are the two enterprise level solutions, they are very powerful, but they do need a compliance team to implement them because there is a lot of learning required to use them to their fullest extent.

Since this community is built on DPOrganizer infrastructure and we’re not supposed to bite the hand that feeds us, it’s obvious what platform is the best 😉
But all jokes aside… I’m not sure in what capacity you ask this question, everything starts with mapping out the required functionality, there is no “one size fits all”. You could use the IAPP report to read about the strong vendors in the various areas so you can make your own shortlist.
You can use that shortlist when you’re asked for advice.
You can find the report here: https://iapp.org/resources/article/privacy-tech-vendor-report/

Our new data privacy department consists of one person, me! I recently went through a vendor review process for the best product to help the company establish a data privacy program. I narrowed it down to two companies – TrustArc and OneTrust. I chose OneTrust because during the multiple meetings they were explicit on providing training on the platform. It’s been 7 months now, and I have had three account executives and no support. No matter what vendor you choose I would really look into the support they offer.

Any software tool (not just GDPR), if implemented without team buy in, a great implementation service and quality training, will always be blamed when “it” (the project) does not deliver what was hoped at the outset. A tool is only an ‘aid’ to doing the job.
I recommend/provide DPOrganizer for many of my clients because of the ease of use. Most of these clients are SME in size and don’t have big privacy teams to manage OneTrust and other enterprise platforms. I offer a service, with a 6 step model, to take a client with an existing RoPA to having a configured and useable DPOrganizer instance which I then train the users on. I believe a similar process is needed whichever vendors platform is being implemented.

Great question, and I definitely support the view that there is no one size fits all. As pointed out above, it depends on your needs, governance structure and available resources. At DPOrganizer we’re always happy to discuss your situation and show how we can help, but you should look at several vendors to make sure you end up with a long term sustainable solution.

I get asked by loads of vendors to have a demo of their products.
I also get asked by my clients what products i would recommend? That’s a difficult issue as it all depends on what the organisation wants and what they can afford. Each situation is different.
