Hi,
I recently have come across a case where an employer has changed their mind on allowing an employee to leave early in their notice period, as the employee in question refused to withdraw their SAR.
Before I advise on this, I want to double check that I am right in thinking this is not appropriate, and that the SAR should not be linked to any other ongoing process that the company has.
Any advice / thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jess

DSARs never come in on a good day but, regardless of the history or cause, there is no power or right that a controller can exert over a requestor to withdraw a DSAR.

Leaving under a cloud, not a good place to be in (i’ve been there)
Giving note to leave and being allowed to leave early – Is there evidence that it was agreed i.e email or letter?
SAR (imho) is a totally separate issue, legally entitled to request whether an employee or not.
On a practical note. Withdraw the SAR, leave and resubmit the SAR. Don’t accept any agreement not to submit a request
